Twitchers in a flutter over feathered friend

ImageA Bronze-winged Courser (Rhinoptilus chalcopterus) was seen for the first time on Mountainlands last weekend. The leggy dark brown and white bird was spotted in broad daylight which is unusual as it is nocturnal and Mountainlands is on the periphery of its known range. Thanks to twitchers Katinka and Hennie Engelbrecht for spotting the lone specimen on Sunday, 2 February. The bird appeared to be completely at ease with all the human attention and the sighting of it in a dirt track was very clear enabling Hennie to take photos of it.
