A young, female leopard was released on Mountainlands Nature Reserve yesterday. It is estimated that she is about two-and-a-half years old. She had to be relocated as she was killing livestock on farms in the Middelburg area. Chris Hobkirk from the Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Authority’s Game Management Division caged and sedated her and brought her to the reserve. The tranquiliser was still wearing off when she was released, giving us the opportunity to take photos before she disappeared into the bush. We welcome her and trust she will settle in comfortably.
